Reconstruction Rhetoric and Tactics
Reconstruction Rhetoric

Keeping in mind that conservative racist Jim Crow whites were Democrats after the Civil War, compare their views with today's Tea baggers:

". . .Gathering at a statewide Taxpayer's Convention in 1871, they railed against excessive taxation, gun control, the public school fund, and Governor Davis's (protected blacks with State Police) attempt to 'emasculate the strength of the citizens (also called White Citizen's Councils and "rifle clubs") of Texas.'
. . .Reconstruction pioneered the sort of racially coded rhetoric that would bind southern conservatives through much of the twentieth century.
. . .All through the elections of the 1860's and 1870's Democrats relied not just on a swelling electorate but fraud, vote buying, intimidation, and murder." Texas Tough: The Rise of America's Prison Empire, by Robert Perkison, pg.95.

The same violence was (and still is) visited upon liberal whites and union organizers. This is the agenda that the corporate powers want to force on us by drowning democracy in dirty money, CONfederate clown hate spewing, and now violence.
