She said the Dems are all saying he was a follower of Palin and the rethugs are saying he was mentally disturbed.
She phrased it to appear that the rethugs would never use such an occasion to cast the Dems in a bad light.
Totally predictable for Cokie Roberts IMO.

I think it was the heated, hateful, REPUBLICAN rhetoric that urges people on.
