I would love to see the bill fail and call their bluff |
|
It won't happen though, but it would be wonderful to see this bill fail to pass and then President Obama would face the choice, either let the country go bankrupt and enter another depression, or raise the limit by executive authority.

3. You mean you don't look forward to the cessation... |

...of 40% of government spending?
What could possibly go wrong?
The tea-partiers don't seem to think it's a big deal. And there are plenty of the left who think it's an acceptable alternative to most of the deals we've seen floated. Neither group seems to have looked at whom they're marching with and saying, "Hey, wait a minute, if they're heading this way, and we're heading this way....

2. I want to see this bill fail so we have a one page, raise the debt ceiling bill. |
|
The House and Senate can pass a one page bill that changes only the debt ceiling number quickly. President Obama can sign it quickly.
If there's any justice in this world, this is what will happen.

#^$% sandwich is not all that popular and may have a problem getting passed. Of course if they're itching to get out of there for vaca well then that's it.

5. Great, I hope you have a 30 year fixed rate mortgage and no credit card debt. |
|
I don't like this either but the consequences are serious.

what you wrote.
My mortgage is fixed, but Mr P and I live on SS and retired military pension.
If the government doesn't pay those, we...and others like us...are screwed.

Invoke the 14th, and the country is thrown into a Constitutional crisis.
It would be a national disaster the likes of which the world has never seen.

8. I'd like to see it fail in the House. |
|
And for Obama to invoke the 14th. And I don't think the courts would dare to rule against it.

10. They are not bluffing. |
|
They really don't care what happens to this country. They are willing to trash everything, even though it will damage them too, just to "win" this.
