Democrats Peter DeFazio and Earl Blumenauer voted against it. Blumenauer said he didn't like the brinksmanship of Tea Party-backed representatives.

"This empowers the most wreckless and extreme elements. Not just in the House Republicans today, but a blueprint for mischief for either party in the future," Blumenauer said.

Democrat Peter DeFazio voted against the bill. He called it a backroom deal that has no balance.

"There isn't a single job in this package. The biggest problem in America, the greatest deficit we have is in job creation. If we could get back around 5 percent unemployment, guess what. Those people are working. They're not drawing unemployment benefits... And a quarter of the deficit would go away with people working," DeFazio said.

He is, of course, absolutely right.

I'm a former Oregonian, now living in the Red RED state of Idaho.
I consider Peter DeFazio to be my adopted congress member. He knows he can count on me for a little something come campaign season.

I have NEVER known DeFazio to be wrong.

vote against. I'm happy he's my congressman he did the right thing. Now to send him an email to thank him for it.

5. I called Wu's office and had a long talk with the lady there and told him to vote against it too...

Hopefully he will do a good thing on his way out and make a solid majority showing for the Oregon delegation to vote against this mess.

Edit: Sounds like he didn't listen to people like me. Well, time to move on and get a new rep to really represent us like DeFazio or Blumenauer.

There was a report by Mathews earlier that said DeFazio heard Biden say that if it failed Obama was going to use the 14th..but haven't heard it confirmed
