please clarify. It is my impression that this commission, not only can go after entitlements, but if they cannot come to a decision in time, there will be accross the board cuts which would include defense and Medicare. Medicare by cutting the provider, which would then cause them to refuse accepting those under Medicare. Please educate me if I am wrong
Thanks

1. Here is all you need to know |
|
Republican Senate leader Mitch McConnell says that the super committee will “certainly deal with major entitlement reforms,” even as he reassured conservatives that they should not worry about tax hikes, telling a Fox News reporter that the likelihood of tax hikes coming out of the committee is “pretty low.”

3. They can cut Medicare PROVIDER PMTS maxed at 2% ! |
|
SS has not been touched. Medicare payments to providers can be cut to max of 2% and Medicaid is not touched. Medicare providers are not going to turn patients away. Medicare payments are pretty reliable, copays come from GAP policies. Hospitals have to accept Medicare pmts as part of their getting federal and state dollars. The dems did what they said: The protected SS, kept MEDICARE intact for beneficiaries and preserved Medicaid. The SUPER committee is going to fail. McConnell has already said he will appoint only those who will not allow revenues. I didn't like the idea of a SUPER COMMITTEE but they are less of a threat since the ideologues will agree to no new revenues under any circumstances. The GOP will continue to ravage the funding of government agencies like the FAA, the EPA and of course the CPSC and Obama will continue the draw down of troops where the real reduction in MILITARY SPENDING will occur.
