Ehr...rope-a-dope.....by the chessmaster
:puke:

The only dopes that got roped were us in 2008. In all honesty, I think it's imperative that the Democrats all over the country have another choice in 2012. A primary challenger, because betrayal necessitates it.

Sanders or Kucinich come to mind. Each of them have more priciple in their tiny finger than.....

1. McCain / Palin would've been even worse
Someone had to say it.

5. To the extent that I voted for Barack Obama and not John McCain, I HAVE to agree.
That said, hypotheticals are never productive when proposed in hindsight.

I've never voted for a republican for statewide or national office, and I'm not about to start. I think I've said that about a thousand times here.

If I were a fence-sitter though? Your argument would NEVER sway me.

6. I actually do disagree at this point
McCain and Palin would have Drilled in the Gulf and then asked us to pray when it went sour. Oh, wait, that happened to us.

McCain and Palin would have extended the Bush Tax cuts. Oh, wait...

McCain and Palin would have passed an Health Insurance giveaway to the Corps and had a mandatory buy in. Oh, man...

McCain and Palin would have slashed Social Security and Medicare. Crap, we're doing that too...

9. The thing I miss most, which is why I brought this up
Is how we all agreed this was wrong when Bush was doing it. I'd like to think we'd still have that had we not elected a Democrat to the WH.

I'm not that naive though. The fact that the values got dropped like a rock when the teams changed sides of the field is perhaps the most depressing thing I've ever witnessed.

Do we really have no values as a nation?

True- I'm the official doom clock of DU for the Iran invasion. I heard whispers about that a few months ago, prior to Libya. I keep hoping it won't happen, but history isn't written by optimists or sane people :p

11. At least with McCain and Palin you'd have a clear idea of who to blame
and how best to focus your energy in countering their policy choices. With Obama it's all wait and see hope for the best. When Bush was president we were all so active and outspoken because we had a clear villain (pardon the cliche).

12. That would make an awesome bumper sticker for 2012.
The DNC ought to get right on that.

8. I think it's time.
I'd rather have leadership that wins or loses on clear values. What I'd rather not see is another disastrous show of rope-a-dope, reverse psychology strategy that party rank-and-filers are just "too stooopid" to understand.

In terms of principle we're in the wilderness and it's going to take years or even decades to re-build. We might as well start now.

15. When Kucinich told us to go with Obama
I really think that he did not know that he would give in so easily to Republicans.
