I love a sale as much as the next person, but ..... |
|
....... I am seeing far too many deep discounting sales. Lots of hoopla to buy this or that at half off, two for one, buy three and get the fourth free, etc. Then there are all the price rollbacks at mainline retailers and grocery stores. Not sales. Price reductions. New "Everyday Low Prices" that are lower than sale prices used to be.
This is not a good sign. Sure, we can all get some savings out of this, but what does such a pricing strategy say about the future?

2. Dump the inventory - last ditch effort for any business to turn a profit |
|
When you've laid off all of your workers, have eliminated all inspections and safety, and your investors are still screaming for a profit, sell everything for half of what you paid for it.

3. Almost wish I were seeing this. |

About the only shopping I do is at the grocery store. They did an "New Everyday Low Price" about a year ago. Since then, prices have gone nowhere but up. And in the case of packaged foods, sizes are still going down.
But then I live in the middle of nowhere, so maybe the trend will take longer to get to us.

I actually got an email from one of these Made in China clothing places (that I have bought something from once or twice) offering to give me one item for free! I didn't take them up on it because the China crap isn't even worth having for free!

5. Yesterday I went grocery shopping at a Super Target. The prices |
|
were better than at Walmart which surprised me.
I agree Stinky, it's not a good sign.

6. So when I told people this they didn't believe me.... |
|
I said that a bad economy could work in some people's favor mainly those who own their homes and still have a job...prices on a lot of everyday things will go down. They thought I was crazy...

7. It will work in some people's favor for a while. Inventories have been |
|
short for quite some time now. If companies reign in more I think we will see shortages. If hyperinflation should come along for the ride too....we're really screwed. imho
