Asian Markets say: dive! dive! dive! (NIKKEI -3.7% Hang Seng -4.8%).
And Boehner, Cantor and Teahadist, Inc. celebrate taking down the entire global economy with one economically (but ideologically semi-pure) vote.

Ticker at http://www.bloomberg.com/ if anyone cares to follow.

Stock Markets closed down - all the way. Won't reopen, according to spokesmen. "Gone! It's all gone!" they wailed, daubing at their tears with their pink slips.

Traitor. History will report the Republican betrayal. And the face of folly will be named "Bush" and "Boner".

5. Obama and the democrats also endorsed, supported, and/or voted for it. It is THEIR issue just as
much as it it is Boehner, Cantor and Teahadist Inc so quit letting them off the hook for it.

I wrote him a thank you note. Right call, wrong reasons.

9. Asia stock analysts see plunge as panic
Aug. 4, 2011, 11:18 p.m. EDT

SYDNEY (MarketWatch) — Asian equity markets plunged into deep losses Friday, with some indices tanking more than 4%, but strategists say the outlook for the region remains strong and that the market panic has even created some buying opportunities.

“You have to distinguish between what we’re seeing right now, which is periods of market panic, versus longer-term issues about growth, earnings and valuations,” Russell Investments chief investment strategist for the Asia Pacific Andrew Pease said.

By early Friday afternoon , Japan’s Nikkei Stock Average /quotes/zigman/715506 JP:NIK -3.64% had tumbled 3.6%, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng /quotes/zigman/2622475 HK:HSI -4.75% dropped 4.2%, China’s Shanghai Composite /quotes/zigman/1859015 CN:000001 -1.92% fell 1.7%, Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 /quotes/zigman/1653884 AU:XJO -4.07% index lost 3.7%, and Korea’s Kospi KR:0100 -3.61% dropped 3.9%,

The dive came after U.S. stocks suffered their worst one-day falls since the height of the financial crisis. Read more about U.S. stocks.

12. Horseshit, MarketWatch. "Long-term issues"?
Publically traded companies have been managing to the quarter (and earnings estimates) since the late 1980s.

There is no such thing as managing a corporation with long-term goals anymore, but nice try at tossing something out there to explain this.
