Thank You Teabagger/Repubs
you really know about economics and psychology. You took a simple debt extension and killed whatever momentum we had. Many times the difference between a recession and a boom is belief in things getting better or worse. You temper tantrum put a complete damper on everyone from the stock market to the grocery clerk. Job well done morons.

3. All part of the plan to smash the country so O can't get reelected
Then when the pukes take over, they can sell off the entire country to private businesses just like Greece is about to do. Toll roads, toll hospitals, toll water, toll fire departments...libertarian (wink) paradise. More like corporate exploitation gone wild. They're going to bleed us beyond dry until we all live like Mad Max.

4. How long before the Repubs distance themselves from the Tea Party?
I noticed a poll this morning that showed 40% disagreed with the Tea Party. They will soon be a liability for the Republican Party. That will be interesting!

8. The tea party was never broadly popular.
Polls indicated that those who had a favorable view of the tea party were in the minority, and since the debt ceiling standoff TP negatives are going up, not down.

The media gave disproportionate attention to the TPers and their influence in an off-year election. That's exaggerated their political profile and, in my opinion, expanded their influence to some degree.

But it was never broad influence.

So I hold the media partly responsible for this, and the baggers very much so. We should greet TPers with protest signs -- TEABAGGERS ATE MY 401(K) or similar. I know there are some who will say that's unfair, that it's the global markets, but as Ruth Marcus noted in The Washington Post the other day, what we saw during the debt ceiling negotiations was an element who was willing to conduct a carjacking on a motorist with a child in the back seat.

Hang this round FreedomWorks' necks and the necks of any tea partyers.

5. Yes, it had a definite impact on consumer confidence.
I saw it happen where I work. We had a good month going in July until the debt ceiling debate reached the critical point and then buying customers were few and far between.

6. And, our scumbag media are complicit
For months, they ignored any good economic news, but every time a report came up that was even mildly negative, they hyped it with gloom and doom. Nothing but scare, scare, scare. They all should be prosecuted for treason.

11. The GOP's main goal is to kill the Federal government.
They want it to powerless. They want to kill the FAA, EPA, FCC, DOE (both), NIH ... everything but the DOD.

That's why they filibuster everything, block all appointments, and manufacture crisis after crisis.

And if they can't stop all legislation, they do everything they can to ensure that anything that does pass, includes some odious element.

And the only legislation they will happily pass, are meaningless bills that are "symbolic" but that are otherwise nonsensical.

With control of the House, they can effectively block all legislation. Do nothing at all. And they will.

Which means that for the next year and a half, the country and the economy won't be getting any help.

The Pres. says (again) that his focus is now to pivot into job creation mode. I want to know what makes him think that the Idiot House over there on the other side of town will let him "create" a single damn thing? These people (mostly politically, but sometimes I wonder) would kill him just to watch him die.

If out political opposition gave us FIFTY % of what we wanted, we would be out in the street doing the fuckin' HAPPY DANCE, and saying "You know what? that guy over there, he might not be OUR guy, but hes o.k., at least we can work with him." THEY get 98% of what they want (according to Speaker Boehner), and The President is still an asshole.

These ARE NOT people who belong anywhere NEAR consensus government. Its like hiring a lifeguard who thinks knowing how to SWIM is an unnecessary requirement for employment.

I hate these people.

Peace,

18. Well, we elected these Ass-hats, didn't we?
I guess the only question is "what are we going to do about it in November 2012?"

Reading some of DU...I'm not hopeful.

Yeah! Let's primary the President!

Yeah! Let's vote for Nader, or some other 3rd Party person!

Yeah! Let's send a message to Dems by staying home!

Like it or not, elections have consequences...how are you enjoying them so far?
