Fixing Gushing Water Line 'Not A Priority' For OKC

http://www.news9.com/story/15214359/fixing-gushing-water-line-not-a-priority-for-okc

-snip video-

A car hit a hydrant almost a month ago and although a hose gushes out an estimated 2,000 gallons of water a day, there are no plans in place to fix it.

-snip-

What seems like a river to drivers infuriates homeowners. "We truly believe we are doing the right thing. We regret it and we know it looks bad. We know it irritates people when we are asking them to conserve," said Debbie Ragan, a utilities spokesperson.

Ragan tells News 9 fixing the break would suspend service for 200,000 customers for at least six hours. We asked why couldn't the city make the repairs overnight. " Well people use water at night and there is just not a good time for anybody to go without water," she said.

-snip-

Residents are fined $167 for watering lawns on non-assigned days.

Ragan points out it is treated water, so homeowners can get a bucket to use it for drinking water or to water their lawns.

there must be more to this story then just that the people at the utility are insane

4. I called their emergency number for the utilities dept.
Lady didn't have a fucking clue at first then was like,

Oh oh, that's a bunch of back and forth between the city of Moore and OKC or something..

I told her she should probably escalate as we've been in a drought for months and their those okies are, just letting it flow down the fucking street...

Oklahoma, Give each inhabitant 100K, tell them they have 6 months to leave, and we use that area to store our nuclear waste :)

It's a win win!
