City attemping to jail cartoonist for posting videos mocking police on youtube
Renton Police Respond To Parody Videos Investigation

RENTON, Washington -- The Renton Police Department responded Thursday to criticism its received after a KIRO 7 investigative report regarding the department's and city prosecutor's investigation into a cartoonist who posted satirical videos about the department on YouTube.

On Wednesday, KIRO 7 Investigative Reporter Chris Halsne broke the story of a cartoonist who is apparently being targeted by the Renton City Prosecutor for producing a series of videos mocking the Renton Police Department.

The city is attempting to jail the cartoonist on charges of cyberstalking. First Amendment advocates have called the move an "extreme abuse of power."

"Some of the videos are incidents of misconduct, some are unsubstantiated, some are rumors, some are previous internal investigations that were found to be unfounded and some are just flat out untrue and lies," Renton police Chief Kevin Milosevich said in a Thursday news conference. "I would rather err on the side of investigating all complaints (and) alleged criminal misconduct rather than risk failing to investigate a crime that's been reported."

1. Or are they attempting to silence a critic?

2. So the 1st Amendment means nothing to the cops? How shocking.
I am getting sick of cops that are sick of being mocked...hey ya know what? Go find another JOB...obviously you cannot handle the one you have.

Arrest a cartoonist for making satire...what fucking country am I in again? I forget.

3. Oh? How would they like 10,000 mock videos?
That's what they'll get if they go thru with it.

police. Locking up a cartoonist over satire is about the limits or we need to fess up to living in a police state. Police are out of control over their collective insecurity issues imo.

5. Police are videotaped ALL THE TIME. If the go to Walmart they are videotaped, bank,
intersection, government building, courthouse, Dunkin Doughnuts, WHATEVER. It's time the cry babies get over it. Every frigging person in this Orwellian Juggernaut is videotaped without his or her consent ALL THE TIME. Grow up copper, it ain't gonna get any better.

7. These are not video tapes of the cops, but animations
Satirizing the cops, apparently based on allegations of past malfeasance. Funny, too. The link story has a list at the bottom of the article with links to various of the videos.

8. Past malfeasance is not all it's made up to be. Now present and future malfeasance, that's
what I like to see. We all know the past is prologue but let's give them a break, except for the ones that get caught.

9. Police have no business doing anything a cartoonist can mock. If they'd keep their noses clean...
