People with guns don't kill people. |
|
Deranged people with guns kill people.
I actually heard that argument made during the few minutes that I tuned into Hannity's show today on my way home.
Keep moving those goalposts, you sick fuck.

1. So, all of our military are "deranged?" |

The stupidity seems limitless.

10. Actually, multiple knife murders occur regularly. |
|
Someone in another thread posted examples of 7 people murdered with a knife, another with 9 people killed.

11. If they could subdue, the Tucson killer |
|
with just bare strength (NOBODY had a gun and shot at him), a group of people can certainly subdue somebody with a knife.
You know, people, WHERE, for all your arguments, were the pistol packin people in Tuson who had guns to "defend themselves"? Arizona is not a "strict" gun control state. Why didn't somebody SHOT HIM?????
You people want to FORCE citizens to carry? The Wild, Wild West is dead. GET OVER IT.

18. One just happened in my neighborhood last night... |

...one person was killed, one seriously injured. If this nut had a gun I'm sure the toll would have been higher. If he had a Glock with 30 rounds in it, 30 people could have been killed. One person killed is too many. So I ask you, based on your logic, how many is enough? Do we have to make it all that easier for people?

6. That may be so Hannity, but some people give the deranged ideas |
|
and tacit approval of a violent reaction. Cross hair targets, "take aim, reload", 2nd amendment remedies, " I fantasize about killing..."
who do you think you are convincing that your fingers don't have a trace of blood on them?

9. as long as you define deranged |
|
to always include anyone who picks up a gun and shoots people, - - - it sort of works.
So if "sane" people never shoot someone, why do they need guns?
The larger point is, do we really want to trust the clerk at the gun store to sort out who is and is not deranged? Or do we just pass the weapons out and to anyone and find the "deranged" ones by seeing who opens fire first?

it is sort of that circular, and therefore irrelevant. Since the act of shooting people is deranged, calling someone who has shot people deranged is saying precisely nothing. To say otherwise would be to imply that there is a normal and sane way to do this.
It is the same as "law abiding citizens don't shoot people", true, but the moment they open fire, they are cease being "law abiding" and become "deranged" so it remains consistently true, and also irrelevant.

17. Victims' bodies getting in the way of shooters' bullets kill people. |
|
Hey, we might as well "go there" before we "get there" - it's the next step for those goalposts.
From there it'll go to: If there were no Dem candidates, and no Dem events, and no Dem voters, then these killings of Dems wouldn't happen either.
And then: If all of us Dems would just commit suicide with our own guns and bullets at home, then the RW would return to acting nice and civil-like. (Yes, I'm sure they would then - NOT.)
Or maybe instead... we should just insist that Repubs and their media-minions act like civilized people. Everybody else does, why can't they?

19. Words (and pictures) kill just as easily |
|
but the point here is "how easy should we make it?" Where's the cutoff? A six shooter can get you six real fast. A 30 round clip, gets 30. A 60 round clip in an AK-47 does a helluva a lot of damage. Why not take it further. Why can't we own rocket launchers too? Shit, how about little nukes, just little ones?
Where's the cutoff folks? Give me a number. What kind of firepower do you sick fucks need to make you happy?
