4. Even though I think the Age of Happy Motoring |
|
is in an inevitable decline ...
It would be nice to also have people who are able to afford: car/plates/insurance/inspection/gasoline, etc., to drive on those bridges and roads.
Or are we going to go with the Chinese model of "ghost" construction to up our rep?

at least a group inside the beltway is starting to get it. I foresee pressure coming up;
Also, here is my tight tinfoil again, some in the private sector might realize that lack of demand means lack of recovery and long term that is bad for the bottom line... So they are using their talking heads to go THERE.

7. We need high-speed rail, better commuting options for cities... |
|
I notice that New York and D.C. both have these options. So, I suppose, if you never leave these 2 general areas, you would have no idea how crappy it is around the rest of the nation. The fact that we don't have high-speed rail and other countries have been enjoying them for nearly 30 yrs and China is literally having to come up with unique designs and transit ideas for its large population and its country that is moving more and more into the cities. It would seem that engineers and transit authorities ought to take some "fact-finding" trips into these other countries to see what other countries do to address population and transportation needs. Then design them for the US cities/ rural areas in a smart way with the least amount of environmental destruction as possible.
Of course, in general, roads, bridges, dams, levies, etc do need shoring up. People need to be hired en masse to work in our sacred National Parks to make them accessible to The People and to ensure their preservation. (The National Parks have been hit hard; with many of them becoming closed all together. We all know what happens when land sits idle and unused, the greedy A$$es in congress start leasing the land, for extremely cheap prices, to their rich buddies to pillage).
