CHINA: "America Needs To Accept The Painful Fact That The Good Old Days Are Over"
China's official comment on the S&P downgrade was harsh and condescending. Released through Xinhua (via Reuters) the statement condemned America for its "debt addiction" and "short-sighted" political wrangling.

"The U.S. government has to come to terms with the painful fact that the good old days when it could just borrow its way out of messes of its own making are finally gone," Xinhua wrote.

23. We would be better off if their demand for our bonds was weaker.
We aren't addicted to their money. We really don't need to borrow for any reason.

2. Yeah, and when massive waves of unemployment hit China...
they'll probably have a different opinion of the whole situation.

they really REALLY ragged our ass and complained about 'shoddy' american stuff. then they collapsed and it didn't seem so damned funny anymore. fuck china. what goes around comes around. They want their money back? Come and get it. Good luck lifting Rockefeller Center and putting it in your back pocket, dumbasses.

Ordinarily, I would blow this off but I guess things have made us all testy lately. I just know whoever shoots their mouth off usually is only two steps ahead of disaster themselves. I hear they have a HUGE bubble about to burst. I only feel sorry for all of us below the water line, both here and in china.

And other currencies to favor.

Good luck with that.

9. They have every right to demand. They should have done so during Bush's reign.
I have a sneaking suspicion both downgrades may have been done to show the Tea Party congresscritters that they need to work together, whether they want to or not.

They have rocked the boat and if they sink us, they sink others, as well. Stupid is as stupid does.

14. As a communist country they should have made the condition that
we continue to take care of the workers and tax the rich. Then and only then would they reconsider. Of course I don't think they live that way either.

China makes the crappiest stuff on the planet. I remember (earlier) Sony Televisions and Toyota Corollas and none of the stuff from China could even remotely compare.

19. That's Because It's Not Chinese Companies Making Stuff
They're contractors for U.S. and other Western manufacturers.

Japan's companies were created in Japan from scratch and grew into industry leaders using the Japanese culture.
