20. I'm going to work hard
to elect real progressives and liberals. Our country needs them. I don't know how else we are going to undo all the harm that has been done and is being done other than to work for it, and fight for it. Obama has been a huge disappointment. We needed someone with a spine who would stand up for what we believe in. He seems to be more republican than democrat, but then I was around when we knew who we were.

8. It is The CONGRESS that is blocking the GITMO closure, not Obama.
Congress voted to defund 'any and all' moving of the detainees.
Congress voted to defund the federal prison to where Obama wanted to move the detainees.
Congress voted to make it illegal for Obama to move the detainees onto American soil.

Put the blame on CONGRESS were it belongs.

Call the REPUBLICANS in CONGRESS and tell THEM to CLOSE GITMO.

9. Obama should decline his parties nomination for pres,
Edited on Mon Aug-08-11 09:22 PM by Vanje
and run for congress, where apparently all the power resides.

Go. Do it , Mr President.
You could have the vast powers of a Boehner!
You could make such a difference then.

10. Your comment is laughable.
You know damn well that we have to have a democrat in the oval office, control of the House, AND we have to have a filibuster proof super-majority in the Senate.
Until we have 60 dems in the Senate the GOP will continue to obstruct everything Obama is trying to do.

After reading several of your comments over the past several weeks I know you don't want Our President to win re-election - but just get used to it because Obama IS going to win the democratic nomination and Obama IS going to win the 2012 election :)

12. ya know what's funny
obama is the first president to completely cave to the gop because he didn't have both chambers and a super-majority.
the sad fact is he was caving before the gop re-took the house.

if the office of president is so weak why bother with it.

14. Perhaps a course in U.S. Government would be of help to you.
It takes all three branches of government to get a bill enacted into law.
President Obama has NOT been caving, he has been compromising in order to get at least 'something' done.

Please explain how Obama is supposed to get his agenda enacted when we don't have enough votes in the Senate to invoke cloture?

Btw, BEFORE the GOP took control of the House we dems did NOT have 60 votes in the Senate to override the GOP's obstruction.
There was only a short period of time in 2009 when we did have a filibuster-proof of majority: Senator Franken was finally sworn in July 2009, but then Senator Kennedy died in August of 2009. Then a REPUBLICAN took Kennedy's seat February 2010.

This is the first time in history that the GOP in Congress have obstructed EVERYTHING the Democrats and a Democratic president has tried to do.

Please stop trying to blame Obama for the bullshit that the GOP has been pulling.

18. I meant to say: The House, The Senate, and The President - those three ;)
Of course we all know that the Judiciary doesn't have a hand it in ;)

p.s. I'm exhausted from the heat here in Houston, my brain today is not up to par.
