How can Rick Perry run for president when he already admitted that there's nothing he can do?
He called for a day of prayer because there apparently was nothing humanly possible that he could think of to solve the nation's problems. He called it "A Call To Prayer for a Nation in Crisis", and obviously he felt there was no alternative save divine intervention for the country's problems.

He offers no solutions of his own, only prayer that the nation can dig it's way out of our current fiscal situation via the hand of God. Given that he's clearly not the Savior Jesus Christ, I ask: why do we need Rick Perry in the White House? He has no answers other than to beg an unseen entity for a miracle. As I seem to recall, someone tried this in Texas a couple months ago to end the drought that plagues that state and was met with utter silence from above.

If Rick Perry's Sunday petition to the Lord for relief is answered and we see the second coming in the form of immediate debt resolution, 0% unemployment, and absolute victory in the Middle East, then I say support Rick Perry by all means. If not, he's got nothing. Nothing at all.

1. There are really strong rumors that Rick Perry is gay.
Edited on Mon Aug-08-11 11:21 PM by texanwitch
It is well known in Texas.

It is time to really out him, now.

past gay relationship between the Governor and his former Secretary of State, Geoff Connor. A version of this story included Perry’s wife, Anita, catching Connor and Perry in the act and screaming at him the next day from her office phone. The most common retelling has it that the Governor was caught, struck a quick (and expensive) deal with his wife that allowed him to avoid an immediate trip to divorce court, and swore everyone involved to secrecy.

I also learned of a new rumor making the rounds. Several sources told me they had heard that the Governor is in a current gay relationship with one of the two (male) chefs that Perry he keeps on staff at the tax-payer funded ($10,000 a month) temporary governor’s mansion

6. It has been known here for years.
His wife was suppose to have found him in bed with another man.

I have heard other rumors as well.

I wonder how his God fearing supporters will think about him then.

5. Considering all the homophobic bullshit he stands for, I'd say it's open season for him.
If there's evidence, OUT HIM!!!

2. I completely agree. It's time to get ahead of Perry on
all of his BS and why he isn't fit. I like what Bill Maher said about Perry wanting to let go of the steering wheel and turn it all over to God.

Include the secessionist crap he was spewing a few years ago.

He's W. all over again.

3. Just like the last governor of Texas who ran:
How could he have run for president?

Republicans do NOT want a president who has a mind of his own. The last time that happened (Nixon),
they went down in flames. They want one that will do the bidding of the money that paid for their
puppet in the White House. That's what they got three times in a row after Ford, and That's the way,
uh-huh, uh-huh, they LIKE it.

THAT'S how Rick Perry can run for president. Republicans want someone who would do as they are told.
I believe that McCain is alive today because he lost in 2008. Had he won, he would have had a heart
attack or some "freak accident" that would have left Palin as president (Mission Accomplished).

8. Good point
...Though 2008 proved that the nation at large did not want a far right phony. Have we as a country moved further to the right since 2008? I don't know for sure.

I always felt that the country entered a state of temporary insanity after 9/11. The flames of jingoistic intolerance and religious hatred were fanned by agents of the Bush administration for eight long years, and that advanced the mental illness into chronic paranoia of anyone who didn't fit in at the Talladega 500. This onslaught of propaganda after such an unimaginable attack led nearly half the populace to the very edge of their capacity for rational thought.

Then Barack Hussein Obama was elected president.

While it's true that extremists on the right have the ability to mold every Republican candidate into their cover model for an Ayn Rand reprint through intimidation and loyalty pledges, it didn't work out so well in 2008. If the Republicans can advance Rick Perry to the presidential race, then half the country is now certifiably insane. We don't need economists or prayer, we need psychiatric help. Not just the doctors we have here though... we need the kind who live in freakin' Austria.

9. Not too worry. The Republicans will just send him to Marcus Bachmann's clinic and pray away the Gay
But that would create a huge conundrum for Michelle. Ridding the planet of one of those awful homosexuals would create a viable opponent for her in the primaries. What shall she do?? Oh wait, God will tell her, or one of those other voices in her head.
