told me nothing else in the world mattered more than getting rid of that man in the White House. He was so mad his face turned red. He often has Rush playing on his van radio.

Their allegiance to party and strict adherence to ideology overwhelms their loyalty to country--even their base individuality is consumed and compromised in the process. They've become nothing but walking, talking human sound bites filled to the gills with transparently artificial slime masked as legitimate talking points.

It's a shame, really. The Republican party used to consist of noble opponents who simply had a different route to the same goal. That ship sailed.

Just because they wrap themselves in the flag, doesn't mean they love the country.

They *may* love the myth of the way the country was "when it was wonderful" - for rich white males - but that's as close as they ever come to love of country.

They'll never actually be able to love the country, because even if the past is revived, it will still only be a great place for rich, white males - and most Republicans won't fit into that narrow definition, so they'll always need someone to hate (some one to blame) to distract them from the actual fact of their life.
