BBC: Injured boy mugged during disturbances in London (VIDEO AT LINK, 48 seconds)
From BBC
Footage has emerged of a group of youths helping an injured boy to his feet and then appearing to steal the contents of his bag during disturbances in London on Monday.

The boy, who was bleeding heavily, was left standing on the street, with an empty backpack.

I am all for protesting and social justice and for removing the oppressive yoke the rich have placed on the necks of the poor. But not every riot is the progeny of some noble cause. If you don't like the videos I'm posting, if you feel I'm falsely portraying the real motivations and behavior of the rioters I invite and implore you to post information or videos which do contradict the content of these videos or interviews.

As I had posted earlier, this does not appear to be some Great Movement sweeping London. It seems more like a shocking social breakdown. This is not austerity protests. This appears to be, from everything I've seen, just riots and wanton criminal behavior.

3. First easily defineable criminal act
was probably firing the Allied Carpets building while 26 were at home in their flats above the store.

4. The "shocking social breakdown"...
...is not a product of the austerity measures?

7. People still have a choice to behave like people. Or not.

6. A black guy helps him up, then a 250# body builder returns when others start away, opens, and takes.
The taker has a bottle in his back pocket as though it were a baton. He has a hundred pounds of muscle on just about everyone else around him and, yes, no one challenges him.

I would say that when somebody releases a video they catch, they don't edit it with an ending. They put out the whole thing.

Strange.

8. There are muggings on military bases and in legislatures, too. What is the point here?
That a sense of class consciousness is inadequately developed? Absolutely. That there are thugs in every segment of society. Undeniably so.

That the rich and the greedy need not worry because the opposition can be vilified and be made to turn against themselves? Well, that is a very old lesson and part of a pattern of response that is repeated, over and over, again.

9. Very disturbing. Here's a longer version on YouTube...
I saw this on TV earlier and really feel sorry for the poor guy who was clearly confused and suffering from concussion: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Gex_ya4-Oo
