Public Transportation Meltdown Yesterday

I take the bus everyday to work. It's cheaper than driving. I get to read. And my car is not taking a beating each day.

Well yesterday while I was waiting for the afternoon bus to pick me up, 2 older gentlemen were also waiting for the bus. One had to be late 50's, the other was at least 70. They started up about the bus service to St Lucie County from Palm Beach County. Well there isn't bus service in Martin County, but there is in St Lucie County (Martin dropped their service last year). So the guy in his 70's complained that the country is no good because there is no "Public Transportation" in Martin County (those of you in this area know that Martin is one of the reddest counties on the East Coast of Florida - they could care less about the people who live there - but I digress). He then said things in this state would be a lot better if Sarah Palin was the President. OK, my blood started to boil at this point. I asked the 70 year old - why would you want a quitter as a President?? His response - well at least she didn't lie. Now, I know I must be in some alternate universe or something. My head was starting to spin because I knew the next word out of this guy's mouth - not like that lying Muslim Kenyan we got in there now.

Now I'm not one to usually speak up, but boy I was done with these 2 yahoos at that time. I said calmly at first (even though I was more than fuming inside) that he is not a Muslim, but what if he is. Would that really be so wrong?? The late 50's guy now says that Obama is a liar because he wasn't born here, he's a secret Socialist Muslim who wants to redistribute wealth. The 70 year old got up and started to scream that them Damn Muslims want to keep attacking this country and that's why they put Obama in the White House to destroy this country from within. As a person who's family came from Egypt and the Middle East and who also has many Muslims in my family I took great offense to these words - and I told him so.

Then the question that I knew was coming, came - do you like Obama (you know at least show some respect for the office for God sake)?? I proudly said, yes, yes I do. Well then the 50 year old said that I must be a Socialist, too. Oh yeah and why hasn't he released his transcripts from College?? And the state of Hawaii along with all of the Muslims in this country are hiding the fact that he was born in Kenya and lived with his Dad there. Because his grandmother was there, too. My eyes could not roll enough. I think I even slapped my head a couple of times. So, he must have used his Super Secret Powers to magically make a newspaper article appear and his Birth Certificate appear. It was the Socialists in this country's fault that he's our President (I don't think either one of them knew what a Socialist was or what Socialism means - the 70 year old said it was like Cuba). This is where it got good. I said you do realize we are sitting on a Public Bench (socialism) waiting for Public Transportation (socialism) and riding on an Interstate (socialism). I asked the 70 year old - do you use Medicare?? He barked back at me that it was none of my business. Well, I said that's a form of Socialism - so is your SOCIAL Security.

As the bus pulled up (thank God) I told the 2 of them, they better not take the Socialist Bus or they would lose their Republican Tea Bagger card. The 50 year old mentioned something about taxes - and I said I pay enough in taxes - it's the rich people I worry about.

The 2 of them were arguing (mostly about me) in the back of the Socialist bus the entire way to Stuart (thank God I was in the front of the bus so I couldn't hear their garbage). When we got to the Park and Ride where the Socialist Cops made sure our cars weren't broken into I saw Mr. 50 year old get into his beat up car. I have a 2004 car and this looked like a 2006 car. Mine was in better shape, so I laughed and laughed as I was able to pass him on the Socialist road that is I-95.

And the moral of the story - there are still people out there that are that dumb. People who actually believe he's a secret Muslim. People who actually think that George Bush was a great president and Sarah Palin can do no wrong. And this was in Palm Beach County Florida. The yahoos are alive and well. And I cannot believe anyone would allow these people in power. But we did in 2010. So, I will fight in this area to make sure all of them are gone in 2012. And today with what little money I do have, I'm sending our President $20 because I believe we can be better in this country. I believe it starts with me and you. Thanks for allowing me to vent . . .

I think that was what made it worse for me. How could 2 people who say they watch TV and/or read be that stupid. I really fear for this country because we are actually dumbing down this country rather than helping to make it better.
