1. The lack of civility among its citizens. People walking down the street, in stores, and

restaurants wrapped up in their mobile devices and snarling at passers-by.

3. I don't fit the request, but anyway I would say one would notice the level of

hatefulness in the US at all levels, all places. Just searching the internet I'm consistently amazed at how hateful people are. It's always a WTF to me. I think they would also notice the shabbiness of many cities now, I see that all over, the income gaps are soooo prevalent, and the absolute look of despair in many peoples faces, particularly the youth.

The link you posted was interesting, and as I remember the UK from the early 70's.
