Now, I'm just spitballing here; throwing this out there. The whole point of having 3 Senate Democratic appointments on the joint commission was that you NOT FUCKING APPOINT MAX BAUCUS OR BEN NELSON TO IT. You're not going to see Snowe or Collins on the other side, Harry. You're not even going to see McCain.
For Christ's sake, Harry, Joe Lieberman would have been a better choice from a policy standpoint, and would have earned you even more "bipartisan" cred.
You have a solid three, with bipartisan cred, in Kerry, Lieberman, & Murray. Or if Lieberman still pisses you off, throw in Webb. This isn't fucking hard, Harry. I'm a mid-level employee of a small lobbying company and I could read that script plain as day.

1. Max screwed up HCR and Reid rewards him for it. Now does everyone |
|
realize that the Senate hasn't helped enact any sort of progressive agenda?

4. Politico and Wonkette both have it; so do two staffer friends of mine |

("It" being Baucus; Nelson is just the other person he wasn't supposed to appoint -- the only two Senators who do not guarantee gridlock.)
Though they may have just gotten it from Politico and Wonkette. Could be wrong, but I just wanted to put my pre-objection out there.

7. You were correct it seems. |
|
The other two are Patty Murray and Kerry, from what I am reading.
I have looked up Baucus on SS and he did make a statement in May of this year that SS should not be part of the Deficit discussions. He stated it was not in need of immediate action. That is encouraging and surprising coming from him.

9. Even Ryan said that -- nobody wants to touch SS when push comes to shove |

I'm much more worried about the structure of Medicare reform.
