"City clerks: Recall turnout could rival gubernatorial election":
From La Crosse where Dan Kapanke is being recalled.

http://lacrossetribune.com/news/local/govt-and-politics/article_cd6cc728-c2d1-11e0-8dfc-001cc4c03286.html

Election officials in some of the 32nd state Senate district's cities say turnout in today's recall election could rival the 2010 gubernatorial election.

La Crosse City Clerk Teri Lehrke said based on her traditional - though unscientific - method of checking polling places the city is on pace to exceed the 17,770 votes cast on Nov. 2, 2010. She expected turnout would top 50 percent.

In Onalaska, turnout was on pace to hit 65 percent, said clerk Cari Burmaster. That would also be on par with the 2010 election.

"It's been crazy," Burmaster said.

I take a heavy turnout to favor Democrats since they should be far more motivated to vote than Republicans. I have said I would not be satisfied with a great special election turnout of 40% because that would mean many did not vote, a lesson we should not have to learn again.
