I hope all DUers understand that if 10,000 of us jumped off
a cliff in protest at the way neo-liberal policies are destroying people's lives, ReTHUGS, M$Greedia and even some Dems would not give a flying fuck.
Then the Fundie lunatics would damn us to hell for committing suicide and others would respond like Cameron in England and talk about morals and values.

The people with no morals and only greed and profit on their minds are now telling everyone else than we are the unpatriotic criminals destroying society.
Were these times not so depressing, the entire scenario would be laughable.

5. From Wikipedia
"Neoliberalism is a label for the market-driven<1> approach to economic and social policy based on neoclassical theories of economics that stresses the efficiency of private enterprise, liberalized trade and relatively open markets, and therefore seeks to maximize the role of the private sector in determining the political and economic priorities of the state. The term is typically used by opponents of the policy and rarely by supporters.<2><3>

The term "neoliberalism" has also come into wide use in cultural studies to describe an internationally prevailing ideological paradigm that leads to social, cultural, and political practices and policies that use the language of markets, efficiency, consumer choice, transactional thinking and individual autonomy to shift risk from governments and corporations onto individuals and to extend this kind of market logic into the realm of social and affective relationships.<4>"

most other places.

6. All of DU does not understand that.
I'm sadly watching the creeping authoritarianism.

corporate profit and M$Greedia and our politicians are silent we are in deep trouble.

12. Martyrdom thread. Feeling helpless and sorry for yourself must be very comforting.
For me, this is a disgusting trend in DU.

Doing something about the situation is what I want.

This thread is merely to point out that they don't care so we'd better solve our own problems.

15. Not the way to go, con, my girl.
It's pretty much come down to people v corporations for the final balancing act of increasing population with dwindling resources.

Anything that divides people benefits corporate or money power. So think twice and speak once, if you please. You are exposing your wallet strings with this bickering banter.

There are no dwindling resources...

Malthusians seem to resist learning about about technological change and the growing worldwide middle class.
