House bill proposes back pay for furloughed FAA employees



Washington, D.C., United States (AHN) – A bill was filed in the U.S. House on Tuesday that proposed back pack for 4,000 furloughed employees of the Federal Aviation Administration for the two weeks they were forced to go on leave without pay because of the Congressional impasse on the FAA funding authority extension.

However, since Congress will not resume until after Labor Day, the earliest that the 4,000 would get their salaries would be September.

In authoring the bill, New Jersey Representative Frank LoBiondo said his aim was to provide the employees back wages and to ensure the situation, which he said was avoidable, would never occur again.
