1. It's a beautiful day. Clear skies, high seventies, light breeze.
The election was called last night and it only included 11 polling places (2 municipalities) in Waukesha County.

DPW retracted their statement about tampering: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=439x1708043

4. Even though the DPW retracted their statement...
will there be any investigation/inquiry or other action taken towards KN? Whether she has tampered now or in the past-- or is just incompetent, it would still seemingly require some review.

7. For what? Nothing happened to investigate.
The fact that you people make it sound like I am defending her is disgusting.

WE WERE WATCHING EVERY MOVE. WE HAD PRECINCT TOTALS BEFORE SHE DID.

20. Excuse me? "You people?" Nikki, I have never done anything of the kind

Go view my posts where I have repeatedly given YOU kudos for your efforts. I realize you are feeling defensive for some reason, but it is unfounded--at least from me. KN has repeatedly shown her incompetence. In most official public settings that would, at least instigate a hearing.

Here is what many here are reacting to (similar stories abounded last night):
Recall Elections: Waukesha County Suspiciously Withholding Election Results
Ed Schultz on MSNBC is reporting that Waukesha County has told reporters that they are withholding their election results until tomorrow. Waukesha County is part of the heated district race between Sandy Pasch and Alberta Darling. John Nichols told Ed that there is no reason for such a delay and that Waukesha County should be able to report as quickly as everyone else.

You may remember Waukesha County and Kathy Nicholaus who just happened to lose and then later find enough votes to give the election to the Republican-backed David Prosser in the April Wisconsin Supreme Court race. This BS was supposed to be resolved after that election, but apparently Wisconsin and the GAB are happy to have a flaky and untrustworthy County Clerk in Kathy Nicholaus. State Senator Jon Erpenbach told Rachel Maddow tonight that "Waukesha County should have been one of the first counties reporting" and is now an issue.

Ed said that several sources have told him this may lead to an investigation to protect the integrity of our elections, and I hope it does. Ed also reported that Democrat Chair Mike Tate has issued a statement saying that Kathy Nicholaus "is tampering with our elections," and they will plan their response in the next hour.

Updated: (11:23pm) Ed Schultz reported that Waukesha County is now telling reporters they won't provide results until some time tomorrow. The delay was originally reported to be one hour. More info here.

24. I meant the collective "you" not you personally. My apologies.
It's been another weird day and people hear have accused Waukesha County Dems of helping the GOP with fraud and I am a bit defensive. We are a fine group of dedicated people busting our asses.

:toast:

yes... I am absolutely convinced your presence was responsible for keeping the Waukesha returns on the up and up. But, I still believe KN is an incompetent partisan fool who should be removed.

you were on top of this, are you comfortable that everything was on the up-and-up?

9. Satisfied? No. I am pissed that Pasch lost.
I am comfortable that there wasn't fraud.

There were dirty tricks and asshole moves, but I have faith in the integrity of the election.

13. Thanks - that's what I meant. It was exciting there for awhile,
and I think the people would have benefitted greatly had Pasch won. :( But since I trust your call I can steer clear of the FRAUD! threads. Thanks! :hi:

28. You should ask a variety of people who live in
Wisconsin, and not rely on the word of one stranger whom you know only from a message board.

IMHO.

I am hearing from other family members, with a varying level of political involvement, that not everyone is satisfied with the party's call on this.

I think the first statement made by the Party was the right one. I think they were afraid of how they would look, and that's not right.

21. I'll defer to PeaceNikki on this since she was working this like
crazy. My sense, when the statement was first released, was that it sounded a little knee-jerky to jump to that charge without a little more info. IF they determine they were correct, I'm sure they'll let us know, but I think they retracted the statement because they didn't have enough facts to back it up.

27. Or computer experts
I think there is a lot a naivety about the ways of cheating with regular poll watchers and lawyers. We needed computer experts and people who have been working on election fraud there, not novices.

12. Yes, I would have expected nothing less than Waukesha being closely monitored.
Very closely watched, observed, and monitored. But that will never be good for some where every election lost is election fraud and a stolen election.

Democrats did the best that they could in a heavily Republican district.

...when the votes were being counted after the supreme court election?

I have no doubts that you were very diligent in keeping a close eye on this election, but that doesn't mean things didn't happen after the polls closed!

22. OK look... Observers watch THE COUNTS AT EACH PRECINCT.
They send the totals to a boiler room and the DPW had those #'s before the county did. Yes, WE HAD THE TOTALS BEFORE KATHY NICKOLAUS DID.

If she had reported different #'s, then there would be a problem. Mike and Graeme made the "tampering with" statement before she released the #'s, anticipating a variance and/or putting the word on the street that there could be shenanigans afoot.

When the #'s came in, the statement was retracted and Pasch conceded. End of story.

It covered parts of Milwaukee and Ozaukee Counties as well.

18. Think again. Here in La Crosse Shilling easily beat Kapanke
and this is in no way heavily Republican. We did super great in this state defeating 2 of 6 Republican incumbents in a recall election that they managed to delay with phony primaries. It doesn't matter what the whole state thought when the elections were only in 6 districts.

26. WI's 8th senate district stretches from Milwaukee's northshore
Edited on Wed Aug-10-11 02:22 PM by HereSince1628
and across some of the very well-to-do northern suburbs.

In the above map you see that Menominee Falls area of the district sits at the northeast corner of Waukesha Co. It's true that Waukesha Co is one of the most reliably republican counties in the United States. But many upscale communities of the Milwaukee metro these are strongly republican areas.
