House. However, he has to work and be available for emergencies. A swim in the ocean is immediately interrupted if there is a crisis anywhere in the country or the world. So, let him go to get away to Martha's Vineyard . So, let him go to away for awhile. The vacay is no vacation. In addition, he deserves to get away and it is healthy for mind and body.

12. I don't think it's fair to compare Obama to Bush.
And I've been very reluctant to defend Obama as of late. Bush set the record for all presidents in terms of vacation time, by a long shot. And this was often during crises that he helped create.

22. I'm not partial. I just call BS when I see it.
Being inconsistent based on political views is idiocy. Ascribing partisanship to those who call out hypocrisy and inconsistency is even worse.

2. I agree, it's silly to think he's out of contact while on vacation.
I hope the family has a great time.

can't we do just a bit of positive PR??? Can't he stay home and work
on a jobs plan? That might get noticed!

5. He can do that where ever he is. The problem is a congress that will find a way to sabotage it.

6. You know, I castigated Bush for his vacations while the country was falling apart.
I can't give Obama any slack here even though I support the guy.

8. Same here
and it should be the same for anyone (like myself) that blasted bush constantly about his constant vacations. His vacation should be cancelled and he should call congress back to work.

9. You don't see a difference between a vacation and "constant vacations"?

15. What I see is a President
who doesn't seem to understand what's happening out here in the real world. For the unemployed, for the employed who have watched their wages stagnate, for the employed who have watched thousands drained from their retirement savings with the stock market crash. Are you seeing leadership? I'm not.

7. I think
These vacations should be mandatory. Clear your head, focus, relax. Do it often. I don't want to work any president 24/7 regardless of political stance.

11. Mental health is important.
Somewhere, not "too" long ago, there was a study on the importance of vacations. Apparently, they're quite important. I would imagine the importance is magnified when you're POTUS.

Welcome!! :hi:

19. I'm going to unrec this. When bush was in the office, the right used this defense
It applies to both bush and Obama or it applies to neither.

You can't have it both ways.
