Just heard that the "voters" pay $30 each for the privilege of casting a "ballot" in the Iowa Straw Poll.

Sounds like an honest-to-God poll tax.

The reporter on my L.A. Fox affiliate then says "Most of the times the campaigns will pay that fee"....if you plan on voting for their candidate.

1. The Iowa straw poll is a picnic that hasn't produced an actual nominee

in many many cycles.

It's useless and irrelevant.

2. Actually, it is a good predictor

An analyst on MSNBC the other day was talking about the 3rd in this poll ending up being the nominee in some bizarre reoccurring pattern.

Only reason I am curious for tomorrow - I want to know who is third. :evilgrin:

3. Dole tied for 1st in 1995 and W won it in 1999 - but McCain placed 10th
