Rick Perry's Christian Message Packaged by an Atheist
Perry's announcement will feature a video, made by an atheist, of a family praying around a table with the narrator reassuring the viewer, "No matter what they’re raised to believe, my children should know that faith is none of the government’s business."

You just can't make this shit up, folks.

Texas Gov. Rick Perry is announcing he's running for president Saturday, and he'll do it multimedia-style. Perry's event, in Charleston, South Carolina, will feature a video of a family with two blond kids praying around a table. The narrator reassures the viewer, "No matter what they’re raised to believe, my children should know that faith is none of the government’s business," Politico's Dale Levinthal reports. The funny thing about that is that the video was made by Michael Wilson, an atheist.

1. And the government is none of 'faiths' business.
Thanks, but if I wanted to live in a theocracy, I would move to Saudi Arabia.

8. + 1,000 - for America's separation of church and state
Why do the Republicons HATE the founders of the United States of America, and the Constitution?

2. I'm sure
they'll be happy to play up that fact too.

See? He's not a scary whacky religious extremist. He's willing to work with many other people, even atheists.

(So don't bother talking about his religious beliefs, please!)

Fuck that. He's every bit as batshit crazy as Bachmann.

4. And so that was why Perry invited all governors to pray at a sectarian Christian religious gathering
that was organised by some of the most extreme RW Christian groups in the US. Because Perry really thinks "faith is none of the government's business". Sure.

9. And I think only one showed up
Brownback of Kansas attended, although Gov. Rick Scott of Florida made a video statement and it was played at the event.

5. He's trying to stem the talk about the wingnut "pastors" at his event.
Did you know the Statue of Liberty is a demonic symbol? LOL.

6. He has to attract
a lot of non-fundies to his side. Having Pastor Hagee telling me to vote for Perry would be even less convincing.

7. Atheists gotta eat, too.
Hey, I continued to work for a Xian ministry for 3 years after I decided it was all bullshit. I'm not gonna throw stones.
