Genuflecting to the Tea Party
Charles Blow on the Republican/public capitulation to the right:

"What we are witnessing is an extension and acceleration of the G.O.P.’s obscene
genuflection to Tea Party tenets: give no ground; take no prisoners; accept no deal."

This lot has apparently forgotten that:
"Good governance in a democratic society is about the art of the deal, not fiats and dictum.
You want leaders who stand up for principles but not in the way of progress."

1. I think that applies to the extremes of either side. nt

2. While Democrats may have "some" extreme people in their midst, the entire Republican
Party has become, not just extreme but insanely extreme

4. I'd agree if the Left "extreme"...
... got ANY voice in the Dem party.

The Repubs have successfully floated the meme that Obama is "extreme" and "socialist", while in reality, progressives/liberals have no place at the table.

6. I don't think he President is extreme or a socialist. I think he is a moderate.
I do believe that the Democratic base is much more evolved and informed that the Republican base. But I also think that viciously turning on a moderate president for trying to bring everyone to the table in a civilized way is kind of wingnut. But that's just my take on it.

5. I don't. This is not merley about their extreme policies
it is about their basic rejection of our method of government. There is NO example on the Democratic side of even one Congressperson who is 'pledged' in advance to certain actions, right or wrong, nor any who are opposed to all compromise. Most of ours have been in Congress for more than a few months, and note, even during Bush, our side continued to govern, to pass laws they'd not have proposed themselves, the Democrats during that time did not bring the government to a halt because they did not agree with Bush.
So I have to ask, what facts and persons can you offer to support your 'thinking' on this? Just saying 'I think X' says nothing about why you think that, or why others should. You see a Paul Ryan or an Eric Cantor on our side? Who? What actions have they taken that make them similar? Do we have a Rand Paul simulacrum in the Senate? If so, who, and what actions do you offer that make them similar to Paul?
Specifics, if you please.

7. I should have been clearer. I was referring to the base not the politicians.
I have read some hateful and vitriolic things written by Democrats about Democrats.
