Aftermath - been talking with some of the people of Hackney that witnessed the riots as they took place. Met with different communities, some with generations of unemployed in a household, and local borough politicians to discuss the events that took place.
Tracked down Pauline Pierce who became a local heroine in the community, fighting off hooded yobos in her area. Pauline Pierce has emerged as a local community person that took action during the riots to try and stop the destruction in her neighborhood, and quickly became a media darling. Pauline Pearce, 45, stood firm when the escalation of violence in Hackney, east London, on Monday evening would have intimidated even the youngest and strongest. The jazz-singing grandmother - dubbed the Hackney heroine - was filmed launching into an impassioned speech which later became an internet hit as a fightback began against the rioters.Her minute-long tirade was captured on camera, and subsequently placed on YouTube, where it has been watched by more than a million people. Miss Pearce's speech has even been hailed the 'best since Martin Luther King's' and featured in a song.
The incredible footage has become an internet hit and Miss Pearce has become something of a figurehead for the backlash against the rioters who caused carnage across the capital.
