Air Force Wife Gets 'Traumatic' Surprise
Air Force Wife Gets 'Traumatic' Surprise

MELBOURNE, Fla. -- Staff Sgt. Michael Nardone returned home from his deployment about a week early and decided to play a trick on his wife to surprise her.

Leah Nardone was finishing up her shift at the Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne when she was told a patient needed an ultrasound in trauma No 1.

When she walked in, the patient was her husband.

Her eyes got big, she began to cry and then she rushed to his bedside to kiss him.

1. I hate stuff like this.
It's so manipulative + it takes away the dignity of the 'surprisee'.

2. Agreed.
My Dad's a big opponent of the surprise visit - he points out that it deprives the person being suprised of the anticipion of a visit from a loved one.

being surprised by their parents in front of the whole school, I hate it all. It's not heartwarming. The fear and joy and relief on the family members' faces shows what a waste the whole stupid war machine is.

ETA: Also, I find this a manipulative move by the husband. If Mr. Brickbat came back a week early from somewhere and rigged up something like this instead of letting me know, there would be hell to pay.

first You tube had me in tears every time. Now, it may be meaningful for those involved, but for outsiders it's just a stunt. To me, it tries to make the war more acceptable with a "feel-good" story.
