1. I don't understand what your saying
Austerity is defecit reduction, and reduction of public services. I don't see how that is related to global wealth. Lowering taxes and getting rid of social security is an example of austerity.

3. Because people are being convinced that "we cannot afford" social programs
My point is simple. We can afford them more than ever before. Our problems are related to priorities and compassion, not financial ability.

...with most of that going into the pockets of the top-.1 of 1 percent.

Of all people, David Stockman noted that most of the wealth ever created was created since 1980 and it's a crime that it's almost ended up completely in the pockets of the ownership class.
