Facebook censoring progressives?
Apparently over the weekend, a lot of progressive/liberal Facebook pages were attacked by trolls who would "like" the page then complain that they were being spammed which automatically results in a FB suspension of the page complained about.

1. Your title is misleading...
Face book isn't attacking progressive, conservatives are using the rules of Face book to attack progressives.

2. I can see why you say that. The article claims FB censorship....
that was the title of the article but it was MY take on what is happening that makes the title appear misleading. The author seems to think Facebook is censoring but I believe it's Facebook's automatic reaction to suspend a public page if someone complains about spam. I could be wrong. Either way, I thought it was interesting.

I wonder what would happen if I joined some right wing facebook group and then complained that it was spam. Knowing my luck, I'd get suspended!

3. Well let's hope Facebook gets these bugs worked out before 2012.

4. Here is what liberals do on FB....
Before the debt ceiling was resolved (if you can call it that), a bunch of my friends and I set up a time to "like" Eric Cantor's page and then bombard it with liberal posts...heehee. We picked a date and a time and it was a lot of fun though probably pointless.

There are all kinds of radical right groups that post blatantly racist and other hate propaganda and FB doesn't seem to have a problem with that so that is why I'm convinced that it's not about censorship so much as TROLLS. So I should have said TROLLS sabotaging liberal FB pages or something like that. Instead, I used the title of the guy's article.

5. They've done that sort of crap for 10 years.
They try to run people off by doing that.
Don't let it discourage you.

They can't win, even if you do decide to leave a forum, a blog, or even Facebook.

6. but Facebook has monetized spam from those "Someone answered a question
about you" companies. And FB sells your info so that companies can send you ads, emails and phone calls.

7. Just one reason why I avoid FB like the plague
Anyone know how I can prevent them from violating my privacy with tags on photos?
The FB rules do say that anyone putting photos up has to have the permission oof the people in it, but we all know how often we're asked for our permission. I do not give my permission, I specifically tell people they do not have it. However I can only report violations to FB if I have an account.

Far worse though is the tagging. I want FB only to allow tagging if the person is a member and opts in to tagging.
