1. One trip to the Ohio State Fair tells you all you need to know about this country's obesity problem. |
|
Deep Fried Butter. Roast Beef Sundae. Deep Fried Pop Tarts. Deep Fried Oreos, Snickers, Butterfingers .. .. what, these things aren't fattening enough on their own, we have to fry them up now?
And the people eating this crap . . . god damn . .. You can tell that this fair is the most people have walked in their lives. So many with obvious high blood pressure, developing lymphedema and mobility issues. So many heart attacks waiting to happen. Young, old, tall, short, tons of corpulent bellies everywhere. It's just tragic to look at.

2. I'm afraid that was a pancake with a stick of butter... |
|
Aren't you? :scared:
I'm quietly waiting for "fried EVOO", and will jump in :)

8. That's a roast beef dinner dressed up to look like a sundae, yes? |
|
And lacking any veggies?
Roast beef and mashed potatoes and a cherry tomato on top?
That's not awful, assuming there's not an overabundance of salt/butter in the mess.

Not Michael Symon. I saw (and smelled) one coming out . . . grease galore. Nasteh.

11. Well, you have a great point there....grease ain't good. |
|
But if it were properly prepared, it wouldn't be as awful as some of the offerings. Fried butter is just something that I can't understand....same deal with fried candy bars.

12. Ever taste a deep-fried Oreo? |
|
OMFG . . . it's literally like biting into compressed sugar and fat. They give you five to a plate. I could barely stomach one and gave the rest away.

14. Never, not once!! I have had tempura battered fried ice cream in Japan... |
|
It was tasty, fairly filling, but it may not have been ice "cream"--it might have been ice milk, because it didn't have a terribly heavy texture.
Not something to eat every day, though!

15. I would just like to point out that deep-fried candy bars, |
|
probably the forerunners of this current wave of lunacy, were originally a Scottish abomination. Americans, as is their wont, have merely taken a bad idea and run with it to an extreme degree.
