We think of FDR as one of the greatest presidents of America, right?
But could he be even greater? I think so:

3. Reminds 1 of the line in The Final Countdown: "Would you trust FDR with the Nimitz nuclear weapons?"
Edited on Wed Aug-17-11 03:17 PM by leveymg
The Final Countdown was an early '80s SF time travel flick with some then big has-been Hollywood stars and the USS Nimitz and its F-14 fighter squadrons get caught in a Pacific time-warp and are swept back in time to December 6, 1941 just before World War Two. The Captain of the Nimitz, played by Kirk Douglas, has to decide whether to launch a strike against the Japanese Imperial Fleet to save the US Fleet anchored at Pearl Harbor, changing history.

The film's dog fights between 1941 Japanese Zero fighter planes and 1980 US Navy jets are really pretty cool - not animated and lots of good aerial footage - I didn't realize an F-14 could turn with a Zero to shoot it down with cannons. (I'm still not completely convinced of that one detail.) The US Navy cooperated in the filming of this movie - this was before Top Gun was made. I guess the Pentagon thought a slightly less quirky carrier jet film than this one would be better for recruiting.

I won't spoil the ending, because parts of the movie, and the dialogue, are fun and worth watching.

That FDR wheelchair Bot sure is funny, in the same sort of way. Silly, silly, but childishly imaginative.

4. Yesterday I visited the Bainbridge Island Memorial for Japanese-Americans intered during the War...
...resulting from an Executive Order signed by FDR.

President's should be appreciated for their accompishments, but not exalted.

9. plus how many people got busted for weed thanks to FDR
FDR was great for economic issues but completely against liberty in relation to hemp. thanks to him i myself had to waste 10 000 dollars on a lawyer and was followed by the dea because i dared to touch a pound of hemp at a time.
