Bachmann claims she worked for the IRS to ‘know’ her ‘enemy’
Source: RawReplay
By Stephen C. Webster

How radical is Rep. Michele Bachmann? The Minnesota Republican claimed Thursday that she went to work for the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), after graduating with a degree in tax law, because it was part of a secret plan to take them down.

“I went to work in that system because the first rule of war is ‘know your enemy,’” she said Thursday in South Carolina. “So I went to the inside to learn how they work because I wanted to beat them.”

Bachmann has taken some heat in recent days from supporters of Congressman Ron Paul (R-TX), who’ve criticized her for being a tax collection attorney for the IRS before she came to politics.

There doesn’t seem to be any evidence that her latest excuse is true, but she has said repeatedly that her experience in the IRS helped form her views favoring a simplification of the tax code.

1. Well, I will have to give her a pass on this one, for I consider the 71,684 page tax code

2. You're more generous than I am.
My first reaction to the headline was that she took the IRS job to gain access to the confidential financial information of her enemies.

6. She wanted to "beat" the IRS?
So, she was trying to figure out how to chisel on her taxes and get away with it? Nice. Leave the rest of us to pick up the slack because Michele doesn't want to pay her fair share to support our society.

13. Get caught in the IRS's clutches sometime
and you'll question that belief.

14. Right. But she was on our payroll. So she took our money to torture us.
And now she wants to do it again as president. Got it.

9. Next week it will be a report claiming a "family hardship" forced her untimely resignation...
followed by "the investigation found no wrongdoing..."

11. Why doesn't she just say, "I needed a job and they were hiring."?
That is likely the truth, so why not just say it?

12. Oddly enough, that line of 'logic' works
I used to have my own tax practice, and you'd be surprised how some people think that having worked for the IRS is an advantage in dealing with them. Some seemed disappointed when I told them I never worked for the IRS, always against them!
