Sarah Palin's Husband Admits on Video That His Wife Quit Being Governor So She Could Make More Money

The Rachel Maddow Show staff dug up a video yesterday that shows an interesting moment of candor by Sarah Palin's husband Todd. In the video, Palin is arguing with a woman who says she's an Alaska resident and disapproves of how his wife quit the Alaska governorship and "sold out." Palin doesn't disagree with the Alaska woman; he just says, "What would you do" with "thousands and thousands of dollars a day?" The Palins had "all this debt," he says. Well in that case...

As Maddow points out, this clip is actually "key to understanding why a lot of the people who are running for president right now are in fact running for president." Public service!

2. It all seems to be about the money these days
The 1% have won- their dollars are worshiped in place of values or doing the right thing.

All hail Mammon.

3. What ever happened to keeping your word?
I was working as a sub at a school last year. Got a call that I was needed to permanently finish out the year at one very difficult place. Meanwhile, hubby gets an overseas assignment for three weeks and leaves me with the kids. I still finished out my commitment because I said I would, even though it left me exhausted.

Palin worships money, not God.

11. Good for you for keeping your commitment...
Based on Palin's life before she became a VP candidate I don't think you can really claim she 'worships money', however once
it started flowing in she certainly seems to have worked on maximizing the flow.

4. How was that substantially different
from how President Obama left the Illinois legislature and then the U.S. Senate?

Leaving unfinished business or unfulfilled commitments behind to pursue personal or political gain is opportunistic. But the standard of what constitutes opportunism has to be bi-partisan if we're to have any credibility.

And "grifter" is a mighty strong word that does not apply.

9. 'dug up a video' ? Someone doesn't follow news closely...
The video is from August 14th and was already discussed on DU here: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=439x1743916

See the original story on the SF chronicle: http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/blogs/nov05election/detail?entry_id=95350

The issue was Todd Palin's claim that the Palins had over $700,000 in debt run up from many 'frivolous lawsuits' filed
against her.

16. Didn't we already know that?
I mean, I know DUers knew that, but I thought that was part of the original story. Maybe I think that because she signed the Fox deal right away.
