Beheadings in Mexico: Where is the Catholic Church? |
|
Somebody please tell me. Mexico is a traditionally Catholic country. My indigenous roots were there. My people became observant Catholics. For years now in Mexico brutal violence (including beheadings) has terrorised millions of people. Has the Vatican even made a statement condemning the sinful violence? http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/08/20/us-mexico-bodies-idUSTRE77J2EP20110820

11. Has to do with the church's place in society. |
|
Might be a little bit above your comprehension.

14. I comprehend your bias clearly. |
|
Can you comprehend that if the Mexican military and police can't deal with it, it may be a bit too much for the local priest to handle? Apparently not....

No discussion of social justice or caring for "God's creation".

5. And what - Get blamed for starting a revolution AGAIN ? |
|
Edited on Mon Aug-22-11 06:02 AM by FreakinDJ
Remember they were blamed for the uprising in Chiappas. Next door in El Salvador they were using Priest and Nuns for target practice by government death squads
Go ahead hate the Catholic church no one is asking for your approval or patronage

8. Catholic church responsible for Mexican poverty |
|
They encourage the Mexican people to have babies, babies, babies. How the heck can these people get themselves out of poverty if they have so many children to take care of? When the church encourages contraception I'll believe they care for the poor.

10. I'm pretty sure they're still against murder. |
|
I know it's a long running fashion to hate on the Church for their coddling of fondlers, but I don't think they are to blame here, not by any stretch of the imagination.

13. As tragic as those beheadings are, the church |
|
really can't do much except denounce them from the pulpit. I believe the Pope probably will say something about human rights violations in one of his addresses in the future. Past Popes have done so through bad times in the past hundred years and I really will worry if the Church stays silent about this.
