Help End Dogfighting!

Got this email today--it's always a worthy cause to end animl suffering. Can you help?

It's Time to Take the Profit Out of Animal Fighting

Dear Mary,

We recently told you about a bill just introduced in Congress, the Animal Fighting Spectator Prohibition Act, which would make it a federal crime to attend an animal fight and impose additional penalties for bringing a minor child to the fight. If passed, H.R. 2492 will go a long way toward eliminating dogfighting and cockfighting in America -- which cannot come soon enough.

It's the spectators who fuel dogfights and cockfights with their admission fees and gambling wagers, and any law enforcement response must include the entire cast of characters involved in this cruel enterprise.

It’s time this loophole in federal law was closed. Will you make a generous donation today to support our work to crack down on animal fighting spectators, and support our other campaigns to help animals?

When you donate $10 or more, you’ll become a member of the Humane Society Legislative Fund and receive a one-year subscription to "Humane Activist," our bimonthly membership magazine, with updates on political work for animals and actions you can take.

Your generous gift will help us continue our efforts to crack down on animal fighting -- and will further our other work to stop puppy mills, canned hunts, factory farming, and other abuses. Please don't wait. Your gift, whatever you can afford, will help us give animals a voice. http://action.humanesociety.org/
Thanks for all you do for animals!

Sincerely,

Mike Markarian
President
Humane Society Legislative Fund

3. Minor grammer/spelling question
There is dog fighting as in Micheal Vick and Dogfighting as in Top Gun. Previously I had been told the the aerial version was one word, the other two words.

4. I have almost always thought they were interchangeable
I only wrote the intro, so I have no control over how the HSUS writes it--I would assume that since they have had a long time in dealing with the subject, that they would be more intimate with how they wrote it!

6. want to see pure love
...in canine form? Adopt a pit bull, or other member of the bull breed, even a boston terrier. Ironic that the fighting ring gave us such a loving, devoted, absolutely loyal breed. Do your research first, Bulls Re not for everyone. God bless all who love our animal friends.

8. Hopefully they can hire one of the health denial industry lobbyists. They're great at buying laws.
We know congress isn't going to support a common sense law like this unless they're getting their palms greased.

9. Unhappily, I agree
I wish there were a way to keep congress members from being bought, but the cynicist in me knows that's not going to happen.
