Bill Maher is back with a Vengeance: "Democrats need to re-claim Patriotism" |
|
Bill was on with Jay Leno, he was on message and very effective. He did not allow any un-informed questioning and took the floor in essence leaving Leno mute. He took on the audience, who in their own ignorance did not know how to react to him at times. He was powerful, informative, not to be deterred, too foul mouthed for the basic MSM, made me smile, and left me wanting to hear more. Don't have to wait long, his show starts again on Friday.
On the issue of the massacre and the fall out I was too riveted to remember details - and I encourage you to watch for the video, but believe me he was singing our song loud and clear in a way you won't hear on the regular channels very often.
I do remember him leaning into Leno and saying: "When we hear about a compound of armed people out there in a desert, or a country side, nobody suspects that this is a crowd of Democrats. Nobody is going to say: Now I know what Dennis Kucinich is up to".
Watch for it. Every minute is a jewel.

edited to say this should have been posted under reply number 2
He also said, while I'm typing again, that the NRA owns the Supreme Court, and owns the Republican Party - and I believe that was the lead-in to the "the Democrats need to re-claim -patriotism rant" which was wonderful and he expounded on it mightily.

10. Much Love to Bill M ... |
|
And always love to Michael Moore. Both of them are defending us ... not necessarily Libs ... Americans. It's tough, but these are two among many who are presenting the facts. Wake up America.

4. He was great because I agree with him. Leno's audience wasn't keen on what he had to say. |
|
To paraphrase, gun lovers and rightwing loudmouths are assholes.
That tends to offend average Americans, who more and more it seems consist of gun lovers and rightwing loudmouth sympathizers.

6. Ugh, I went to the Leno taping last night and |
|
got stuck with the dweebs from American Idol, I was bummed when they said I missed Bill Maher by one day! Ugh!
The thing is no matter how lame the show is (very) the BAND is fantastic during the commercial breaks and it's down the street from Don Cucos, best margs in Burbank! So it's all good! I never watch it at home though since the band is the best part and they never have it on.

12. The audience is like 90% tourist!! |
|
I was just there yesterday, the warm up guy doesn this "where's everybody from" schtick if you say L.A. they laugh cuz everyone else is there from the Midwest mostly this time of year, looking for some sun. They were all from PA, OH & NB etc! NOT representative of an L.A. audience that's for sure....Bill Maher's taping gets tons of locals! I'm sure he knows what to expect though.

Why can't any of our leaders use the kind of logic Bill uses... I actually think the audience was getting his point... He makes things very easy to understand both sides are NOT the same and he points out why! I wish I could see his show. Is there any way to see it other than HBO? Do they put it online at a later date?

17. I agree. Refreshing change from Leno's RightWinger guests of late. |
|
And very funny. I don't subscribe to HBO, I've always wanted to watch real time though. I might actually try to find the episodes online somewhere to watch.

well, if the shoe fits.....
Patriotism, like the nation state, is an invention of the bourgeoisie and furthers their purpose. Working people's loyalty is wisely only given to the working class.
