Just realized something - Re Bachmann |
|
Do we have a good chance of getting Michele Bachmann out of government altogether? With a crowded field of GOP candidates, there's a good chance that even when a frontrunner emerges from the various state primaries, that the amount of votes he or she is ahead by would not be insurmountable even by a person in 3rd of 4th place, meaning they all stay in longer, meaning dividing up the votes more, meaning taking a longer time for someone to finally be declared a winner. Since Bachmann is a representative, her seat will be up for election in 2012. Would she be able to launch a credible re-election campaign in the relatively small amount of time she would have in the above situation? What do Minnesotans think of her these days?

1. The 6th is gerrymanded all to hell and back. |
|
I hate to say it, but the whining northeast suburbs of the Twin Cities love her. They're usually the ones that put her over the top on election night.
She could announce her candidacy for the 6th the day before the election (If that was actually legal) and she'd probably win.
If I'm wrong, though, I'll be more than happy to be wrong about this. I want her out of government. She's a dangerous person.

Couldn't she run for president and run to keep her seat in Congress? I know that candidates rarely resign their positions to run for President. Obama didn't and neither did Bush, McCain or Kerry though I don't remember if any of them were up for re election that same year.

states that she can't run for both offices at the same time. However, she has until June 5,2012 to drop out of the Presidential race and file for reelection as Representative.

I suspect she will beout of the PResidential race by then but given this political climate I could be wrong. I hope common sense will prevail but Sometimes I have my doubts.

4. I have been talking about keeping her in the race as long |
|
as possible for months now. So she would find it hard to run for rep.
She has dug some holes that she may find hard to climb out of. She declared in Iowa. She goes around saying how in her heart she is an Iowan. Hard to come back and tell people how much she cares about them when she does not mention them at all in her speeches.
