How to Make Sarah Palin Disappear

Steve Kornacki says that those "who just want Sarah Palin to go away should consider a Palin presidential campaign an investment: You'd have to deal with a few weeks (or maybe even months) of saturation coverage, but there'd be a good chance it would all end with Palin's presence in our lives severely and permanently diminished."

He believes her campaign would be an "epic, humiliating defeat, the sort of disaster that might once and for all convince the political and media worlds that the empress has no clothes."

John Sides: "But here's another way to make Palin disappear: have a presidential election in which she is not a candidate. The surest way to sideline any prominent Republican politician between now and November 2012 is for them not to enter the race. Indeed, even those that do enter the race will be sidelined by not winning. The candidates, and then the ultimate nominee, will suck up virtually all of the oxygen."

11. Palin is one of the least self-aware people I have ever encountered.
Her twit twin Bachmann is challenging her on this point, but I'm still going with Sarah. She seems to have some mental condition that prevents her from realizing how she comes across to others, particularly thinking people. The mindless adulation she gets from the stupid - oh sorry, "low-information" - rednecks and cranks that attend her speeches seems to have turned her head. Into what, I don't know.

18. She cannot answer questions, she cannot debate (except with a canned answer, she cannot expound
on an issue) She is totally clueless and yes, SO amazingly devoid of self-awareness.

4. Yep, exactly.
She has zero humility, so an otherwise humiliating defeat wouldn't even phase her.

6. as evidenced by this very thread
She is simply not going to go away. Reminds me of "Dear Leader" who periodically needs the limelight to feed his ego.

12. Yep, the people keeping her in the spotlight the most are Democrats
Most Republicans don't care about her at all. The ones that liked her in the past have moved on to other candidates such as Bachmann or Perry. Her movie got a lot of coverage on Fox News (not surprising), but it probably got more coverage on MSNBC.

People like to be angry. News executives know that Palin really angers Democrats. So when she does something, they play it up. It angers the heck out of the viewers or readers, but they pay attention, and that's all that matters.

One of the most ridiculous things I've ever heard of was the "Ignore Sarah Palin Week" that was HUGE on Facebook. Yeah, lets ignore her by telling everyone we know about a week dedicated to her, and then we can go to the facebook wall and post thousands of messages dedicated to her. Yeah, that will make us all forget about her! :eyes:

5. Let her talk.
Nothing could make her true self more apparent. The more she talks, the deeper the hole she digs.

7. After the crap she has performed in front of the camera... the fact that she is somehow
relevant... is a testament to the foolishness of her audience.

10. Why do we want her to go away?
As long as she keeps grifting and getting money from fools that would otherwise go to a Perry, Santorum, or some other creep, and takes up public air time that could go to Romney or some other creep, she is doing more to help our cause now than, well, Obama. Hopefully she will keep her circus going for months to come.

15. Like all reality TV stars there appears to be no way to rid us of them
the TV machine is convinced we all really care about them, because somewhere some lonely sad loser does. Thus we get constant updates on what appears to be their rather boring lives.

17. I side with those who say she isn't running.
The whole family is made up of grifters. This non-campaign bus tour is all about selling books and a couple of reality series.

19. John Sides greatly underestimates Palin's need/ability to insert herself
into ANYTHING and EVERYTHING......she will steal the spotlight where ever when ever the opportunity presents itself.

I'm sure Palin will imply that whoever gets the nomination will NEED to get her endorsement to be successful.....she IS the single most important voice of ALL patriotic AMERICANS.

oh and his contention that, 'epic, humiliating defeat, the sort of disaster that might once and for all convince the political and media worlds that the empress has no clothes."........she was soundly humiliated throughout her last campaign, and it didn't even slow her down.......Palin does not recognize 'humiliation'.......she isn't bright enough to know to be humiliated.
