The Trauma
Edited on Wed Jan-12-11 10:30 AM by kentuck
America has been traumatized. Shocked and numbed by the events of the last few days. It is the topic of conversation in every group across America, including Internet discussion groups. The killer wanted to create "chaos" and perhaps he has succeeded to a large degree?

It has made the partisan divide even wider than it was before. The Democrats blame the Republicans. The Republicans blame the Democrats. The trauma is evident and widespread. A little girl with all her bright future ahead of her was gunned down. As was a beloved Congresswoman from Arizona, who miraculously still clings to life. As was a Federal Judge who was killed by the maniacal gunslinger. As were the others that were wounded and killed on January 8th of this fateful year.

Some ask, "what if?" What if it had been a much-beloved Republican who was shot thru the head instead of a Democrat? Do we need to mention names? It could have been any one of several highly-respected Republican women? What would have been the reaction if that was the case?

This is a deep wound that will take time to heal. It serves no purpose for leaders to say such nonsense as violence is inevitable and that it has always been thus. That is not what America needs to hear at this time. The pot is boiling. Let us hope that it does not boil over.

1. Actually, I do not feel traumatized. I expected bloodshed long before this
and I must say, I did not expect it to be a congressperson.

Mass shootings are not unusual, and it's sad to know that, but it's a fact we have to live with.

guns are everywhere..

people who need mental health don't get it

angry people act first..think never

I am sad for the families, but the trauma part of it has not hit me because it's no longer shocking.
