Horror scenes at Tripoli hospital
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-14687658

More than 200 decomposing bodies have been found abandoned at a hospital in a district of the Libyan capital, Tripoli, that has seen fierce fighting.

A BBC correspondent found corpses of men, women and children on beds and in the corridors of Abu Salim's hospital.

Doctors and nurses fled after clashes erupted nearby between rebel forces and those loyal to Col Muammar Gaddafi.

Some residents accused the regime of murdering those at the hospital, but it is not yet clear how exactly they died.

1. They died of wounds or they died of neglect
but dead nurses and doctors won't do anyone any good. They likely evacuated all the ambulatory patients with them and only those who needed heroics to survive were left behind. Those left behind were likely killed in crossfire during the evacuation or were simply to ill to survive without constant attention.

The only fault I could find with this situation is that they didn't evacuate soon enough, but you just never know where an urban war is going to be fought next when one is ongoing.

Still, when it's children, it's heartbreaking.

2. horrifying
but as someone on another thread said to me (I posted an article about the tremendous need of the hospitals in Tripoli) "that's the price of war". :sarcasm:

I really hope a democratic government of the people develops from all of this madness but I have my doubts.

4. There are survivors
who stated that retreating Gaddafi forces slaughtered them. In fact there is an Amnesty International report:

Gaddafi to the Hague - I hope he is captured alive. They seem to know where he is.
