Anybody Keeping Track Of Republican Wins Vs. Democratic Wins In The Last Month... Year...
Recently...

Republican Wins:

Debt ceiling "compromise" where Boehner got 98% of what he wanted.

Elizabeth Warren given a cupie doll prize of support for a Senate run so she couldn't do what is necessary and right by this country.

Eric Schneiderman kicked off the 50 AG Committee so he couldn't do what is necessary and right by this country.

Obama giving the Administration's nod of approval for the tar sands pipeline...

Democratic Wins:

Can't think of a one.

Am I missing any ???

1. Well, there was that special election
in the 26th Congressional District in New York State, which our side won. No minor feat, given that just several months earlier, the district went 60-40 for Paladino over Cuomo in the gubernatorial election.

Or are you talking on the national scene?

2. They're outside the Beltway.
Victories like Kathy Hochul's in NY-26, and the two new Democratic state senators in Wisconsin.

I guess we have to be like organized labor - picking our battles on the local and regional front, because we're ignored by Washington.

3. Two Republican state senators in Wisconsin are out of work
And a Democrat won a Republican held seat in a New Hampshire state House election.

5. Until the money gets out of DC or a major shake up occurs that scares the
congress-critters straight, we will not see wins for The People over the monied class. It can be achieved. We have to be organized and persistent. But as WI has proven and traditional R seats going to D's, we can get it done. I think our best focus is to get a liberal House and try to get as many D's in the Senate as we can. We need more Bernie's and less Nelson's (and there are 2 of them that are barely D's).

Maybe once President Obama enters his second term, he won't be so scared to take it to the monied interests? Who knows? I'm not sure what his angle is. I think he needs to throw a few punches every now and then. These are precarious times. We need a bold FDR and an in-tune populace. AND with so many people hurting so desperately bad, they have nothing left to do but to pay attention and see through the lies and do a bit of reading and researching. The taxpayers had to prop up the banks with money. Their contracts for outrageous bonuses had to be honored. Yet, they ask for help with their mortgage payments. Maybe a couple of deferred payments. Oh no, if you are late, its default and into the foreclosure/ modification program. The program is slow and the banks make more money on an actual default. Oh and no cram down of the loan that you are underwater with. The Govt who has paid the banks to work with homeowners and owns Fannie and Freddie Mac can't think of buying out the loan (that they really own because the banks borrowed from them to initiate the loan) and adjusting the principle to a market correction.

This same Govt sets up tons of tax breaks to help businesses keep employees, but with a down turn, actual demand is down. It doesn't matter how many tax breaks the Govt gives, if demand is down, people aren't going to be hired to stand around doing nothing.. and those tax breaks just sit in big corps banks collecting interest. The Govt decides to tighten its belt, lay off Govt workers... so now, there are even more people trying to find work in a horrendous job market. At the same time, more tax breaks are given to the wealthy who seriously don't need it and wouldn't miss it (I mean really, how many private jets, mansions, and private islands does one person need)?

Most of us get FDR is a good model. Most of us get that we should end our military imperialism. We found enough money to help liberate Libya, but we don't have enough to adjust COLA for Grandma so she can afford her medication. We can find enough money to extend Bush tax cuts, yet we need to force mass firings of our teachers to break their contracts so dedicated professionals who literally provide the building blocks of our future, are screwed over. AND those who aren't as familiar with the whole FDR idea, it can be explained really easily. Honestly, Medicare for All.. Rather simple to explain and 80% of this country wants. Social Security Solvency by taxing for one's entire yearly earnings, rather than capping at $106,000. A jobs program for young people (keeps the kids occupied and out of trouble, they receive work experience, and they use idle time productively to build their country while earning some income. Infrastructure: We all know it needs fixing and upgrading. Go Green... Becoming energy efficient and independent should be a goal similar to going to the moon. Totally achievable and there are enough people who need jobs and have innovative ideas to move into the next century. AND most realize the idea of always consuming more isn't going to work. We will run out of material. AND the only people getting wealthy and accumulating the most stuff are the wealthy. The rest are poor/ working poor.

All of this is achievable. We are at a boiling plate. I think we can tip the tide. I think 2010 was about dissatisfaction that the jobs weren't coming, people are losing their entire life they have built up, and the all DEM govt seemed like it wasn't doing anything. Many people don't understand filibuster. I think now they see that the R's are not about jobs for people, but obstruction, destruction, privatizing the public goods, and making the President a "one term president". They hold the country hostage. Other than their base, people are pissed. Its the reason we see polls indicating that people want President Obama to fight back stronger and fight for them. The R's were their stupid moment. Buyers remorse and all that. President Obama, if he's as smart, he will start taking a strong stand and pushing for sound policy.
