A voice from Texas--prepare for Perry NOW!!
byclark101857
The GOP race for the nomination is over.

I am from Texas. My state has suffered greatly under Rick Perry. He is a bigger liar than Richard Nixon and probably just as crooked. He is to the right of George W. Bush, Ronald Reagan, and Barry Goldwater.

We need to prepare now--not in a few months--but right now.

Because the President will soon endure a contest that he has never faced in his entire political career--no previous opponent has ever had the capacity to stoop as low as Rick Perry will stoop.

I am a Texas Democrat and I beg you folks--please--the absolute worst thing in the world that we can do is to make fun of Perry--assume he will get defeated in the Republican primary--or that the media will expose him and his lies for us and that the President will skate to a second term.

............

1. I agree with this assessment. When Bill White ran against him I thought our very
popular Houston mayor had a real chance, but Perry beat him too. Bill's a great guy and quite moderate in his politics. The Perry machine steam-rolled him. I would not under-estimate this guy, he gets folks to vote for him and a lot of it is his "aw shucks" down home demeanor. Obama will come off as an elitist against him, and on top of the bad economy it worries me that Perry is going to sweep this thing.

2. If Perry somehow wins, we may as well kiss this nation good-bye.
Good-bye First Amendment, hello theocracy!

17. You mean if Perry STEALS the election...............
All the more reason for every single democrat to vote for Obama. Let's face it...he's so much better than any Rethug. Our very lives and democracy depends on it.

3. As long as the Bi-partisan, lets hold hands we're one America attitude prevails there's grave danger
Making claims we can solve this and compromise does not work. Those you think you are compromising with want to win and have their way at all costs. Mr. Perry is a dangerous thug.

5. The VERY best way to elect Perry
is to primary Obama

But then maybe you'd rather have Perry than Obama.

Just like people wanted Reagan rather than Pat Brown for Governor.

Or thought Gore was not good enough so they might as well vote for Nader.

11. I googled to be sure I remembered 1980 correctly and found
this quote at Huffington post

"You mean like when Ted Kennedy primaried Carter and ushered Reagan into the White House? No thank you!"

Kucinich ran for the Dem nomination in 2008. Obama beat him fair and square. If Kucinich or another person like him primaries Obama, Obama will defeat the challenger, but he will have lost a lot of money doing so.

18. Carter was not a strong seated president in 1980.
The economy was the reason. "Stagflation" was the key culprit. His approval rating was 37% in May of 1979. Kennedy declared his intent to run for president on Nov. 7th. In March of 1980 Carter's approval rating was 52%.

So, clearly Kennedy did not cause him to lose to Reagan. There is no correlation between Kennedy entering the race and Carter's approval among voters. The president's popularity was altered by a variety of things, most specifically the economy in 1980 and his role in boycotting the Olympic Games in Moscow.

at the expense of the "Primary Obamer!one" folks who seem to have no fear of President Perry.

12. I agree that our biggest mistake would be to not take this...
man seriously. He is a money machine that will have the backing of EVERY big business powerhouse, and we know this country has already been taken over by big business. To have Slick Rick as president will be the icing on the cake for them.

14. K&R. I could have written this myself!
No one should discount Perry as just another Bush. Perry is ruthless and amoral; it's true that no one has ever had the capacity to stoop as low as he will. And all the ladies will like his purty smile.

Dangerous man.

No way will the northern states tolerate a hard right wing southern secessionist governor in the WH.

Edited on Mon Aug-29-11 12:19 AM by bamboo harvester
He's a bigger liar then Richard Nixon? Is he a bigger liar then Bill Clinton? If Perry gets elected, I just pray he doesn't get a vice-president as evil as Dick Cheney.
