Hope they can get them all back up quickly.

(Tweet joke about power: In Wash. thousands of people have been left w/out power. I believe they're called Democrats)

2. My younger daughter lost power
in Levittown, NY, at 2 AM and got it back about 11 AM. My older daughter in Lindenhurst lost her power (she was evacuated) and still hasn't gotten it back, but when she went back to check her basement apartment (DRY!), she said a tree in the neighborhood came down and took the power lines with it. She said the wires are across a street. Very dangerous situation, so I would hope they would fix those fairly quickly. All in all, my children were very, very lucky.

3. See, it was all a lot of unnecessary hype over nothing.
Oh, wait........

5. You do understand that nobody mentioning the media hype is saying that there wasn't a storm, right?

7. Of course. They are merely saying it wasn't a REAL(TM) storm.

8. It was a real storm.....
It did not, however, destroy New York City, nor "change the face of it forever" as Jim Cantore was ranting about on Friday night.

11. Government agencies handled it appropriately. Some in the media
behaved and spoke like fools. Cantore is one of the latter.

4. I guess it would be best if people ignored the media hype
bout getting ice and be ready to live on your own in pretty primitive condition.

10. Americans are spoiled
Compare this to other EPIC storms like in Haiti, earthquakes, Tsunamis or even tornadoes that ravaged Western Virginia and Gloucester County this year which caused more property damage and loss of life. Didn't see you pontificating about preparedness or talking about primitive conditions. This was a merely a tropical storm that dumped some water, had some winds. Most of the deaths can be attributed to stupidity. Loss of life happens in storms, and tragedy is a part of life. It was NOT the epic storm of the century that would wipe out cities. The over hyping of this storm likely caused more stress related deaths but we won't hear about that. What about that loss of life? What about the people that pawned their only valuables or went to check cashing places to spend next weeks paychecks to prepare for some wind and rain??? The storms that rolled through Virginia earlier this year had the same number of people without power yet not one thread here. How you can continue to perpetuate this hype as a good thing is beyond me. Must be cause you don't live here. Case in point, with the earthquake. 5.8 and the world trembles with fear, yet we had a similar one in Colorado about the same time and nary a peep. Where are you on the deaths related to the drought and heat in Texas which has caused far more damage loss of life this year?? I don't see you creating threads on that or talking down to those people on what fear and hysteria is good for them.

6. K&R
Of course, 5 million isn't worth our attention, or the media's. Trivia. If it's mentioned, it's HYPE. We're so hype-pure, we can't any of *that*, now, can we? Oh, the horror!

No, best to ignore them. We can't have any tender little attention-spans upset.
