the next time you have the urge to utter the nonsensical "Obama=Bush", remember this past week |

Vermont governor: "I give the federal government an A+ for their handling of Irene".
Similar comments from the other governors and mayors along the east coast.
Things are very different under a Republican administration than under a Democratic one.
You subject a lot of people to a lot of pain when you go into the voting booth with the idea that there's no difference between the parties.
It is an ill-informed viewpoint, and it was held by way too many voters in 2000.

3. There are many similarities between the two, on major issues. |
|
Bailouts for Wall St. and big corporations (Bush started it, Obama continued and expanded on it)
Tax cuts for the rich (Bush started it, Obama continued it)
Ongoing wars (and everything related, such as GITMO, spying on American citizens, etc.)
Hell, they each signed major health care legislation into law (Affordable Care Act, Medicare Part D)
So pointing out that they're not very different isn't nonsensical at all. Actually, I think the differences between these two administrations is almost insignificant.

15. Whenever I see the "sarcasm" gif |
|
I always wonder whose idea that was. "Hey, we need something posters can use to admit that they're not good at conveying sarcasm without telling people they're being sarcastic." Odd.

23. Yep, just the most important stuff. |
|
We might also consider the environment....
In truth it is the office, nobody gets to be president unless he or she toes the ruling class line. Differences in party affilation, personality and demeanor are secondary at best.

5. i agree, Obama is MUCH better |
|
than the worst president in American history.
And he's even MORE better than Rick Perry or Michele Bachmann, either of whom would be worse than Bush.

I don't know about her position on gay marriage, though I followed her confirmation, but I do not remmeber anything about this issue. But just to take one example out of so many posssible, how do you think she would have voted on Citizen United? Can you venture a guess, because I surely can. So no, I disagree, she is MUCH better than Roberts.

25. That was not the point of the OP, and you know it. |
|
It was not meant to say Obama is wonderful because he is better than Bush, but simply to show how ridiculous comparing him to Bush actually is.

I've been at DU for 10 years, and I have never heard a DUer seriously say that Bush = Obama. Please provide some links to support your OP.
What I HAVE read and agree with is that Obama has continued and expanded some of the WORST Bush Policies. For Example: as far as "Free Trade" goes, Obama is the same as Bush,
OR
Obama protects War Criminals and War Profiteers the same as Bush,
Or
that for the first 4 years of his administration, Obama = Bush with regards to Tax Cuts for the RICH,
OR
for the Poor living in the Streets in America, its the same as when Bush was President.
There are many, many policy issues where comparisons to Bush-the-Lesser & the Republicans are indeed legitimate. Lets at least make an attempt to Keep it Honest, OK?
You will know them by their WORKS, not by their excuses.
Solidarity! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
