A Piece Of 9/11 World Trade Center Came Home To My Hometown...PIC Heavy
Edited on Tue Aug-30-11 05:18 PM by rsmith6621
It’s taken them nearly three weeks, but the two local firefighters who traveled more than 6,000 miles to bring a piece of the World Trade Center to Federal Way will finally be back home tomorrow.

On August 11, firefighter Sven Schievink and Lt. Scott Mahlen, both of South King Fire and Rescue, began a cross-country drive to New York City, where they picked up a beam from the World Trade Center.

After making pit stops in Chicago, Mt. Rushmore and Sun Valley, Idaho, the duo will be back in Federal Way tomorrow, and the city hopes everyone comes out to show their support.

Here are some images I did with my camera phone....

The two firefighters by the front of the truck were the ones that drove back to pick the beam up. One of them had 22 friends die in the WTC on 9/11

This flag flew over the Nations Capitol on 9/11/2001

It is a very big day at home today...enjoy

1. It would be interesting to test it for explosives
But then again, it has been a decade and the evidence has probably long since gone.

.....I spoke with the big Chief and mentioned that it would have been nice to get a rough piece instead of nicely trimmed and clean.

14. not trying to be a jerk, but please let that meme go: 911
didn't really affect me at all, except that I had to listen to jingoistic shit for years afterwards. It was a tragedy, and made me feel bad, but it didn't really affect anyone I knew or know one way or another. Sorry :(

18. I agree it must be remembered, but ...
my question is: Was it an act of tyranny or terror?

8. Seems that almost every town in America has a steel beam from the WTC.
Reminds me of "relics" of pilgrims who have fragments of The Cross.

10. I'm sorry but I fail to see where i'm supposed to give a shit
Edited on Tue Aug-30-11 06:43 PM by comtec
seriously... it happened, and they STILL haven't done shit to rebuild the towers.
we're in two wars FOR nearly 10 FUCKING YEARS, and what has that accomplished?
We blow TRILLIONS since then... what good has that done?

and most importantly...

WE LET OUR CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS BE RIPPED FROM US...

so seriously, why should i give two shits about a piece of steel that will never be put to good use?

I find all this 9-11 crap to be just that, utter and complete BULLSHIT!

it's BULLSHIT that the right likes to beat us over the head with CONSTANTLY...and it happened under THEIR WATCH!

I say smelt it down into something useful, like the piston of a car, or the frame of an electric car!

I'm sick un to death of having to GIVE A SHIT about 9-11, this is NOT how americans act, this is how beaten, pussy whipped cowards act!

It's well past time americans DID SOMETHING as opposed to constantly "boo hoo"ing about 9-11

15. Why don't we sell the steel for its scrap value and ...
use the money to conduct a real investigation?

11. Our county recently got a piece, too -
- to incorporate into our existing 09/11 memorial. We're not far from DC, 20+ county residents died in the Pentagon and many of our firefighters went in to provide relief that day.

Very moving to see, that's for sure.

To the ones we are not taking care off in their medical needs, shame on us.
