"You guys would vote for a steaming turd as long as it had a (R) after it's name" |
|
I work in a funny place.
The Day-Shift is all right wing, all the time. They work 7am to 3pm. Must be because they get to go home and watch hours of the Fox News direct injection of Republican talking points in prime-time. Baby.
The swing shift is mostly liberal and decidedly more productive than the day shift. We are up late at night drinking and doing other evil things.
Getting up so early to be at work at 7am has to be a factor, but I don't know. But they spend all day talking about shit like this...
"Hey do you know that big shopping area/flea market and country music place on 430 something?" "Yeah, that's a nice place" One of them looks at me and says that I am probably not going to be interested in this BUT!!! "Herman Cain is going to be speaking there next month!" This conversation is taking place in our office, in a managers office no less, as I am talking to another manager. So here I am. A manager in a professional setting, talking to fellow managers when I declare that they indeed would vote for "a steaming turd as long as it had a (R) after it's name" I mumbled as I walked away in shock, "And I'll buy the Godfathers pizza for you to put that steaming turd on". They really liked that line for some reason.
HERMAN FUCKING CAIN!
Peeps I work with are freaking crazy.

1. I knew someone like that once |

A walking sack full of contradictions. These people vote Republican because they THINK that one day they will be the privileged few, having no clue that they will bumble through life using various programs like food stamps, unemployment, Social Security, Medicare, and if they were in the military, the VA.

4. And there are many that will never need these programs that support them as |
|
they know that in order to have a civilized society these programs work for the betterment of all. They just make sense.
I'm always struck by the fact that often those hating these programs, want them gone are often the ones that are going to need them most. Exactly as you say, they are clueless, "having no clue that they will bumble through life using various programs like food stamps, unemployment, Social Security, Medicare, and if they were in the military, the VA."
IMO America is on the fast elevator to the bottom thanks to the prevalent ignorance in this country, those proud to be stupid and callus.

He called them the pre-rich; idiots who think that one day they will be rich, so we can't tax the rich! http://www.nytimes.com/2003/01/12/opinion/the-triumph-of-hope-over-self-interest.html

2. Though they'd NEVER admit it, I'm wondering if you weren't quite a bit more effective with that line |
